Dr. Clair Kueny, assistant professor of psychological science at Missouri S&T, has spent the last four years in partnership with Phelps Health of Rolla conducting research and professional projects. The most recent collaboration is focused on understanding the impact COVID-19 has had on rural health care providers.
Dr. Kueny surveyed employees at Phelps Health on their perceptions of organizational and coworker efforts in addressing the challenges presented from COVID-19. Initial findings from the study show that Phelps Health’s efforts to provide and require personal protection equipment (PPE), provide flexible scheduling, and offering remote work were particularly appreciated by employees in the early days of the pandemic. Additionally, communication was the most valued coworker behavior among employees.
Dr. Kueny’s research was broadly featured in a recent article by the American Psychological Association.
