Dr. Amy Belfi, assistant professor of psychological science at Missouri S&T, collaborates in a high school music psychology course for students attending Breck School in Golden Valley, Minnesota. The course, taught by Mr. David Birrow, examines music through the lenses of psychology, neuroscience, physics and mathematics.
Dr. Belfi first met David Birrow on twitter when he used the #musicscience hashtag. Belfi is an active participant on that hashtag, and Birrow was asking if any music scientists would be willing to look over his syllabus prior to teaching the course for the first time. “I saw his tweet, got in touch, and helped him develop his course syllabus” stated Belfi, “he also asked if I would be willing to guest lecture in his course, and I was more than happy to!”
Dr. Befli served as guest lecturer in the course for two semesters. She was also featured in the schools newspaper Today at Breck.
If you are interested in bringing Dr. Befli to your classroom, or learn more about guest lecture oppotunities, please contact Dr. Amy Belfi at amybelfi@mst.edu.
