The UM System Healthcare Engagement Initiative commits resources and research across its four universities to address the health care challenges currently being experienced by Missourians — especially in rural areas. Across the state, many people travel more than an hour to reach health care providers for routine care and emergency services.
Together with the Show Me Health and Well-Being initiative, the Health Engagement Task Force is working with local communities and partners to help identify and solve health care access and preventative care and education challenges.
A pilot project is currently being developed to leverage UM System Mental Health Care assets and expertise. The program, when completed, would bring needed counseling services to three of the state's most under-resourced counties through telehealth technologies.
