The speaker, Professor Michael Crandol, is a Lecturer in East Asian Languages & Cultures at Washington University in St. Louis. He previously taught courses on Japanese animation at Leiden University in the Netherlands. His current research focuses on the evolution of anime discourse in the digital age. He is also an expert on Japanese horror cinema and the author of Ghost in the Well: The Hidden History of Horror Films in Japan.
