Discussing Plein Air painting indoors is a contradiction in terms, but SPARK Instructor L.D. Herman will attempt to describe and illustrate the manner of painting that the impressionists like Monet, Manet, and Cézanne practiced. L.D. studied architecture at KU and spent a career building big buildings and then painting and drawing “on the side,” but when he retired, he took up painting regularly. He found the practice of painting landscapes directly on-site to be the most challenging and rewarding. He will explain the special challenges of painting in this way and discuss the groups of painters that approach painting in this way.
Class Fee: $5
