Big Picture features large-scaled paintings and works on paper from the museum’s permanent collection of 20th century art. The selections range in style and in content, but all convey meaning through scale. Some depict interiors painted with such realism that they fool the eye into believing the scene is an extension of the viewer’s space. Others take the form of abstract fields of color that dwarf the viewer and create immersive visual experiences. Many of the works on view were created by artists of local and regional significance, including former University of Missouri faculty members. Click here for more info.
