Please join us as we celebrate the publication of Dr. Laura Miller's newest book, Occult Hunting and Supernatural Play in Japan (University of Hawai'i Press, 2024).
This new book interlaces history, art, literature, religion, media studies, and anthropology to explore ubiquitous yet understudied occult activities. Laura Miller finds that these forms of visual and material religion are neither trivial nor simply commercial gambits. Rather, they provide insights into the realms of creative exploration, pleasure, and spiritual development.
Invited commentators Dr. Paul Manning, Trent University, and Dr. Kate Goldfarb, University of Colorado, will also join us.
