Coming to the Heartland: Latin American and African families in Kansas City

About Marta Caminero-Santangelo:

She was born to Cuban immigrant parents in Canada, grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, earned her BA in English from Yale University and her PhD in English from UC Irvine. She came to KU as an Assistant Professor in 1997 and is now a distinguished professor. She teaches courses in U.S. Latinx literature, African-American literature, literature of social justice, and 20th Century U.S. literature at University of Kansas. She is interested in interviewing Latin American and African families to learn about their histories here in the Midwest.

General Information:

Join us on October 9th (6:00PM-8:00PM), to hear stories of immigrants in both Kansas and Missouri, as told by them. You will not only get the opportunity to learn about this project, but you will also learn how to contribute to your own story. Appetizers will be provided and registration is through RooGroups.
