Dr. Jeffrey Savage Presents “Conversations with Beethoven

The musical masterpieces of Ludwig Van Beethoven have stood the test of time and continue to inspire generations of music lovers. Like all artists, his music is a reflection of his life, his struggles, his triumphs, and his genius.

Presented by UMKC Conservatory faculty member Dr. Jeffrey Savage, "Conversations with Beethoven" is a new event series consisting of an engaging lecture and sonata performance that explores Beethoven's piano sonatas in a unique and engaging way. Dr. Savage's lectures provide insight into the inspiration behind each piece, including the personal details of Beethoven's life during the time of composition. By understanding the context in which these sonatas were written, audiences can gain a deeper appreciation for the music and experience it in a more meaningful way. Dr. Savage performs the Sonata after each lecture, bringing the music to life and allowing audiences to fully immerse themselves in the sounds and emotions of Beethoven's compositions.

Organizations interested in hosting an event with Dr. Savage are encouraged to contact him directly (jrsavage@umkc.edu). Lectures can be adjusted to audiences of varying ages and musical familiarity.
