HISTORIC STYLE: Kelee Katillac Honors the Past with Design for Today

The Cockefair Chair continues its 60-year tradition of presenting fascinating lectures by welcoming Kelee Katillac, an award-winning author, preservation consultant, and interior designer who has been a guest on CNN, The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Discovery Channel, Pure Oxygen, The Family Network, and many others. Katillac’s work has been featured in the pages of USA Today, House Beautiful, Traditional Home, Introspective, Designer Builder, Body & Soul, The Utne Reader, The Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, and hundreds of other publications worldwide. In addition, Katillac is the author of two books, and her latest, Historic Style, is due in 2023. Katillac is the founder of Design Gives Back, having provided room makeovers for those who are critically ill or in-need.

In Historic Style, Katillac discusses 40 rooms in private homes and public places, including the award-winning 1878 Henry Blosser Estate in Malta Bend, Missouri. Once “The Most Endangered Historic Place in Missouri” The Henry Blosser House 1878 is now a restored American Dream.

“To save a historic house, we need to bring our personal story to the narrative. We can’t live in a time capsule of the past or a museum recreation. In Historic Style, vibrant color, modern elements, and witty commentary bring new life to the process for old house lovers everywhere,” Katillac says.

Katillac is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City and resides in the region.
