KC Streetcar Coming to UMKC Oct. 24!
UMKC is gearing up to welcome the KC Streetcar to campus this fall. On Oct. 24, the eagerly anticipated UMKC stop, located just steps away from the UMKC Volker Campus at 51st Street and Brookside Boulevard, will be ready for our students and community members to ride. Join us for several events here at UMKC and along the new Streetcar extension that our ERCE team is thrilled to be working on. Come celebrate with us as we make this new connection to the heart of our city!
Morning Celebration, Oct. 24, 10:30 a.m.
UMKC Streetcar Stop, 51st Street and Brookside Boulevard
Join KC Roo to welcome the KC Streetcar to UMKC! The celebration includes the Mob Band, Kansas City Roos Dance Team and treats. Metered parking is available on the first floor of 5050 Oak Street Garage and the fifth floor of Cherry Street Garage.
Evening Celebration, Oct. 24, 5 to 9 p.m.
UMKC Recreation Field, 51st and Oak streets
Join us for live music including performances by the UMKC Conservatory, Brass & Boujee, Summer Breeze and the Circus Man. There will also be live painting by DINKC and a silent disco by Silent KC. And you won't want to miss the feature presentation, a drone show. Metered parking is available on the first floor of 5050 Oak Street Garage and the fifth floor of Cherry Street Garage.
Day 2 Midtown Community Celebration, Oct. 25, Noon to 5 p.m.
Murray Davis Park, 40th and Main streets
Celebrate the KC Streetcar's arrival in Midtown at Murray Davis Park! Enjoy an afternoon of family-friendly fun with live performances by the Pythons Drill Team, Stone Lion Puppets and The Royal Chief with CRWN JWLS. There will be hands-on art activities, face painting, food trucks, activations from UMKC's HR office and the National Museum of Toys and Miniatures and so much more—something for everyone to enjoy as we mark this exciting new chapter for Kansas City.
