UPDATE: Today's weather will necessitate a change in the performance location. Today's event will now be in the 2nd-floor lounge of the UMKC Student Union ( 5100 Cherry St.), located directly adjacent to the bookstore and Starbucks.
Parking is available in the adjacent Cherry Street Garage (5005 Oak St).
The Kansas City Symphony’s Mobile Music Box is the perfect stage for musicians to present chamber music programs throughout the metropolitan area and in your neighborhood. Our Symphony musicians bring the music to you, from familiar classics to uplifting modern works. These free and family-friendly concerts are just right for classical music fans and those who may have never experienced a Symphony concert.
From 3:00-4:00 PM on Saturday, September 23, as part of UMKC Family Weekend and the official start of UMKC Engagement Month, The KC Symphony's Mobile Musix Box will host a String Quintet performance on campus. Featuring violins, viola, cello, and bass, this program will highlight the upcoming Symphony season with performers Tony, Stephanie, Jessica, Alex, and Evan. From Brahms and Bartok to Stevie Wonder and Billie Eilish, this concert--and the Kansas City Symphony-- will have something for everyone!
The event will be held on the grassy lawn between the Olson Performing Arts Center and Swinney Recreation Center. individuals and groups are encouraged to bring thier own lawn chairs and blankets.
In the event of adverse weather conditions, the concert will be moved indoors to the student center.
