'Mobile Girls Koottam' is about the lives of young rural migrant women in India. Presented in the form of conversations and illustrations, the women discuss their lives as working-class women, factory work, gendered norms, access to public spaces etc. It is published by Zubaan in India, and distributed by the University of Chicago Press elsewhere.
The book forum will feature the author, as well as a discussion by Sundari Anitha, Professor of Gender, Violence and Work at University of Lincoln, U.K. and Koni Benson, lecturer in the Department of History at the University of the Western Cape, South Africa will discuss the book. The event will be moderated by Sirisha Naidu, Associate Professor of Economics at UMKC.
