UM System is proud to celebrate National Small Business Week with the launch of “The Veterans Startup Ventures: Serving Those Who Served” program as part of the UM System Veterans Initiative.
The Veterans Startup Ventures program is designed to assist veterans in starting and growing their own businesses. During the course, participants can expect hands-on guidance through every step of the entrepreneurial process: from developing a business plan, to understanding financing options and obtaining veteran-owned business certification.
This 5-week program will culminate with a pitch competition, in which prizes will be awarded to the top three participants. For its initial launch, the program is only being offered in-person in Columbia, Missouri and has a limited number of spots.
The Veterans Startup Ventures program has been developed over 18 months with multiple internal and external stakeholders to best serve veterans in Missouri; this program is the first of its kind in the state.
