Step into the world of Okorie “OkCello” Johnson, the Atlanta-based cellist, composer, and storyteller who transforms the cello into a vessel for innovation, soul, and community.

From international art installations to concert halls, OkCello’s work has captivated audiences worldwide. A Kennedy Center Office Hours Artist-in-Residence and featured artist at the Democratic Republic of Congo’s 2022 Biennale, he has shared stages with Maxwell and collaborated with icons like India.Aire, De La Soul, and Big Boi of Outkast.

His music, which blends the traditions of the African Diaspora with bold, contemporary soundscapes, invites listeners into a deeply moving journey of rhythm, melody, and narrative. Each piece is infused with improvisation, looping, and storytelling, crafted to be as emotionally resonant as it is musically daring.

With a career that spans award-winning scores for theatre and film, orchestral premieres, and immersive live performances, OkCello offers an evening that is more than just a concert. It is a spiritual and sonic exploration of connection, history, and hope.

Join us Friday, Feb. 20, 2026 for a night of breathtaking artistry that redefines what the cello can be.

Tickets can be purchased online HERE. Or at the Leach Theatre box office 9 a.m.- 4 p.m., Monday-Friday.
