Event
St. Louis County Library Presents Historian Erik Larson

St. Louis County Library Foundation and The Novel Neighbor Present "An Evening with Acclaimed Historian Erik Larson," author of The Demon of Unrest: A Saga of Hubris, Heartbreak, and Heroism at the Dawn of the Civil War.

In Conversation with Debbie Monterrey, KMOX Radio News Anchor

Presented by the Westfall Politics & History Series

#1 bestselling historian Erik Larson brings to life a simmering crisis that tore a deeply divided nation in two. Larson offers a gripping account of the chaotic months between Lincoln’s election and the Confederacy’s shelling of Fort Sumter—a period marked by tragic errors and miscommunications, enflamed egos and craven ambitions, personal tragedies and betrayals. Drawing on diaries, secret communiques, slave ledgers, and plantation records, Larson gives us a political horror story that captures the forces that led America to the brink—a dark reminder that we often don’t see a cataclysm coming until it’s too late.

Individual tickets ($42) come with a book for each ticket purchased.

Package tickets ($50) will admit two individuals but come with only one book.

Additional books will be available for purchase on-site.

Doors to the theater open at 6:00 pm.
