Students who participate in regular physical activity are almost 7 times more likely to report increases in their ability to manage stress, according to the National Intramural and Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA). With benefits like these, it is easy to see why students actively utilize Campus Recreation's facilities at UMKC. Campus Recreation hopes to see community members return to using its facilities, like the Swinney Center, in the near future.
At this time, community memberships or passes are not available due to COVID-19 restrictions, but Campus Recreation does have plans to revive this program. When community memberships return, community members will have access to equipment and amenities such as the swimming pool, indoor track, and cardio and weight rooms at the Swinney Center. Community members will also have access to the Hospital Hill Annex, which offers 24-hour access to cardio and strength-training equipment.
