Operation Breakthrough, one of the largest single-site daycare centers in the state of Missouri, provides a safe, loving, and educational environment for children in poverty and empowers their families through advocacy, emergency aid, and education. Each week, Operation Breakthrough cares for more than 700 children, ages 6 weeks to 18 years. More than 70% of the enrolled families live below the federal poverty guidelines, and 1 out of 5 children are currently experiencing homelessness.
On the bus tour, UMKC, Students, Staff, and Faculty will have the opportunity to meet with several of Operation Breakthrough's courageous and resilient parents as well as community leaders working for other area nonprofits on some of the city's most challenging issues.
Seating is limited and registration is required. Reserve your spot by emailing Nate Addington at firstname.lastname@example.org Participants will be picked up in the circle drive outside the UMKC Administration building at 3:30 PM and returned to the same location as close to 5:00 PM as possible.
Please Note: The bus tour may include explicit testimony on such topics as domestic violence, substance abuse, and prostitution.
