Twenty-five UMKC School of Medicine students had a busy weekend as they assisted with giving COVID-19 vaccines at a mass vaccination event at Arrowhead Stadium; the first of its kind in the state of Missouri.
Students, supervised by licensed nurses and assisted by The National Guard, regional doctors, and other local medical professionals, contributed 235 hours of service to the event.
The event vaccinated nearly 7300 individuals with the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine. As of March 23, there have been 2,099,298 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in the State of Missouri, with 753,179 individuals have completed their full vaccination protocol (roughly 12% of the state's population).
UMKC School of Medicine students will continue vaccinating individuals during ongoing clinics at Truman Medical Center / University Health.
