The Missouri Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at UMKC is an affiliate of UMKC as well as a member of the larger Missouri SBDC. The Center is Kansas City’s leading organization for growing and developing small businesses.

The SBDC is staffed by current and former business owners, executives, and coaches who can provide knowledge and expertise in the areas of consulting management, finance, and more through classes and free coaching.

Recent classes have included material covering the first steps to starting a business, pitching to investors, and the basics of writing a business plan.

Business owners who would like to attend a class or training but cannot afford the cost can apply for scholarships or grants to cover the cost.
