UMSL and Scale AI have partnered to advance geospatial workforce development in St. Louis through a two-year agreement supporting scholarships and credential opportunities. Scale will fund $5,000 scholarships annually for two GIS Certificate students, while also offering its employees Prior Learning Credit toward the certificate based on job experience. This initiative is part of UMSL’s broader mission to fuel the region’s growing geospatial and defense tech industries.
In addition to scholarships, Scale will provide learning space and allow employees to attend classes during work hours. The collaboration will include job opportunities, student events, and joint programming like summer camps and YouthMappers meetups. UMSL Chancellor Kristin Sobolik will speak at Scale’s St. Louis Summit, further highlighting this commitment to building the region’s AI and geospatial future.
