U-CREATE Summer Camp is a camp for kids ages 6-12 designed to be an active camp that both educates and stimulates while having fun. Camp enrollment is open to UMSL and the surrounding community.
OneCity Stories: A St. Louis Youth Writing Program
The Gateway Writing Project, in partnership with local organizations, invites young writers from across the Greater St. Louis area to join us in June 2022 to share their perspectives and experiences as youth growing up in St. Louis. Onecity Stories program participants will create and publish multimedia projects with the support of experts in the journalism, film, and radio broadcasting fields, as well as build relationships with a community of fellow writers.
Civil Rights Speaker Series
The Pierre Laclede Honors College invited five speakers to engage the honors students on a discussion on race and the importance of activism in the past and present. The speaker series served to compliment the book, Freedom is a Constant Struggle by Angela Davis, which served as the common read book for the university freshmen.
Virtual Literacy Tutoring
Graduate and undergraduate students within the UMSL College of Education provide virtual literacy tutoring sessions during the academic year. This is a free program with limited space.
MIMH Professional Training
UMSL | Missouri Institute of Mental Health’s Professional Training Center creates and implements innovative programming to provide quality behavioral health education to both the general public and service providers. The Center has its roots in the Institute’s Division of Continuing Education, which served the training and education needs of behavioral health professionals for nearly four decades.

The website used the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs GI Bill Comparison Tool and scored each institution for military culture, support, financial aid, and flexibility.
UMSL VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program)
The UMSL Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (UMSL VITA) provides free tax assistance to low to middle income individuals and families. This program is sponsored by the College of Business Administration at UMSL and the Gamma Psi chapter of Beta Alpha Psi. This continues to be the largest university-based personal income tax service in the region.
Des Lee Collaborative Vision
The Des Lee Collaborative Vision is a project that links the expertise and resources at universities with educational, cultural and social service institutions in the community. Working through a select group of endowed professors partnering with community entities, the DLCV is able to enhance education, improve the quality of life throughout the St. Louis area and beyond, and create opportunities for traditionally underserved people.
Missouri Institute for Mental Health
The Missouri Institute of Mental Health’s (MIMH) improves and transforms mental health outcomes through innovative research and program development, program evaluation, community outreach, and professional training. MIMH programs serve individuals impacted by, at risk for, or living with a mental illness, behavioral health condition, traumatic brain injury, or HIV/AIDS, as well as all sectors who work with these individuals from policy-makers to funders to direct-service workers.
Mobile Eye Clinic
The Mobile Eye Center provides eye and vision care for the underserved throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area.
