The Des Lee Fine Arts Education Collaborative is dedicated to enhancing the quality, influence, attitudes, and accessibility of fine arts by connecting educators, artists, and performers with St Louis students. Special attention is given to underserved populations. The Collaborative is currently made up of 16 St. Louis area arts agencies and 17 St. Louis area school districts.
Community programs include educational fine arts outreach programs and concerts, student concerts, clinics, and masterclasses. The Collaborative also provides support for music educators throughout all career stages, offering professional development, facilitated mentoring support, and online resources.
Mental Health First Aid
Mental Health First Aid is a course that teaches participants to recognize and respond to signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use concerns. Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed for adults who work with adolescents.
World Languages Day at UMSL
The Department of Language and Cultural Studies at UMSL annually hosts World Languages Day. The event presents an opportunity for advanced language students at the high school level to visit campus and interact with each other and language student volunteers from UMSL.
Leadership Academy in Character Education (LACE™)
LACE™ is a complex and comprehensive year-long professional development experience for school leaders focused on character education.
Richard D. Schwartz Observatory
Located on the UMSL campus, the observatory is used for astronomical research and for public education during regular open house events. It houses a 16″ Meade LX200 telescope and two portable 8″ Celestron telescopes. The telescope can be used for imaging or spectroscopy with an SBIG ST-8 CCD camera.
UMSL Counseling and Social Advocacy Center
The Counseling and Social Advocacy Center (CSAC) at UMSL assists individuals, couples, and families in need of counseling services with affordable counseling provided by professional counselors and graduate counseling students.
St. Louis Public Radio
St. Louis Public Radio is a news organization and NPR member station. St. Louis Public Radio’s mission is “to inform and provide a deeper understanding and appreciation of events, ideas and cultures for a more inspired and engaged public.”
UMSL Planetarium and Astronomy Outreach Program
With funding provided by the NASA / Missouri Space Grant Consortium, the Department of Physics and Astronomy at UMSL is proud to offer the Astronomy Outreach Program free of charge for schools.
St. Louis Mercantile Library
Housed at UMSL since 1998, the St. Louis Mercantile Library is the oldest existing library west of the Mississippi River. It has developed a significant permanent collection of paintings, prints, drawings, sculpture, decorative arts and folk art.

UMSL has embraced an Anchor Mission and is committed to intentionally applying the University’s place-based operational and educational assets in partnership with community to build a strong North County and Saint Louis region.
