A recent article from CityScene KC highlighted how last week’s opening of the Children’s Mercy Tower in the UMKC Health Sciences District marked another milestone in the continued investment in the area, which has been spearheaded by the University.
UMKC has been bolstering its presence in the Hospital Hill neighborhood by adding two new University Health buildings since 2015, as well as forming the UMKC Health Sciences District, a cooperative partnership between twelve neighboring healthcare institutions, in 2017.
“Its continuing growth is a key economic driver for downtown,” said UMKC Chancellor C. Mauli Agrawal. In addition to the medical facilities, new apartments have opened, jobs have been created, and existing businesses have experienced increased traffic.
