Youth and Mental Health – The Center for Evidence-Based Youth Mental Health: A Model for Improving Access to Quality Care for Missouri’s Youth

Dr. Kristin Hawley will describe the current youth mental health crisis in the U.S., where more than one in five youth suffers from an impairing mental health concern, and many families are unable to access effective care. She will also provide an overview of the research evidence on youth and family psychotherapies and current efforts to improve dissemination and implementation of these evidence-based treatments into community-based services. She will describe a model program in Boone County that includes a range of evidence-based assessment, referral and treatment services for youth and families, alongside evidence-based training and support services for mental health providers who care for our youth and families.
